Cancer Touches Us All Help Me Help Those Affected
I am walking to help the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute beat cancer. On Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, I will join more than 7,500 walkers in the 20th Annual Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai. We have a fundraising goal of $6 million to help find better ways to treat and prevent cancer in children and adults. Cancer touches everyone, and in this case it's the daughter of one of my dearest friends, Cheryl (Arone) Driscoll. On August 18th, Cheryl's 6-year old daughter, Victoria, was diagnosed with an abdominal tumor known as Wilm's Tumor. The tumor was the size of a rugby ball and had completely taken over her right kidney. Support Team Victoria On August 25th, Victoria underwent a 10-hour surgery to have the tumor & her kidney removed. The cancer
has spread to her lymph nodes, which requires intensive treatment. September 3rd was the first of her 25 Chemotherapy treatments & she will also need 6 radiation treatments to her right abdomen. The good news - her left kidney is ok. PLEASE HELP! Make a Donation Victoria and her family have a long, difficult battle ahead of them. Instead of enjoying school and playing with her friends, Victoria will be going to endless doctor visits, Chemo, radiation, fatigue & nausea, and because of the Chemo - she will end up loosing her hair. Too much for any 6-year old to have to deal with. I hope you will support my efforts by contributing to my walk.
